  4. Change cooking habits - try steaming instead of boiling.
  5. Increase activity by making it part of your daily routine.
  6. Learn about healthier food choices.

Like all activities, planning is one of the keys to success. By planning your meals, you will know what you need at the supermarket without picking up other items that are not required.

Make sure you have eaten before going shopping, as hunger can tempt you into purchasing sweets or convenience foods to satisfy your appetite or craving before you have parked the trolley!

I would suggest that you make fresh fruit and vegetables regular items on your shopping list, as these can be used as snacks or form part of your meal. You may want to buy fruit in smaller quantities, particularly to start with, keeping it refrigerated (except bananas) so that it keeps fresh longer, whilst reducing waste.
